Where Peace Resides

Standard

Ink stained hopes
struggle to speak
A dying dream
can find new life
Names call out
“Hear us now!”
Some wash away
others forget
A few hold true
to a lost belief
The door is open
waiting for you

    • This photograph has been on my mind for a while now and I’m so happy it finally decided to speak. In general, I am fascinated by the “autograph” walls that pop up all over Europe (like the Lennon Wall in Prague), but this one was pretty special because I got to fulfill a promise I made to my aunt . . . she’s always wanted her name on Abbey Road and I finally got to put it there. 🙂

  1. I LOVE this! The photo was very inspirational, as I’ve noticed so many of yours are. They all seem to hint at a world beyond the door. ‘Ink stained words struggle to speak’ – what a lovely way to describe the graffiti! 🙂

    • Doors are my favorite thing to photograph – I guess its a little obvious! Lol! 😀

I firmly believe in the power of possibility and never, ever giving up. Door open all the time – we just have to brave enough to walk through them.

The graffiti on this wall is really quite special. There is so much love on this wall as people sign as fans of The Beatles and with hopes of peace. Its a lovely tribute to the idea that nothing is impossible.

      • Since I often work with autistic children and young adults, I was touched by the movie Temple Grandin, starring Claire Danes. She did a marvelous job portraying the autistic woman who has become famous for her papers on animal husbandry and humane ways of treating cattle and other farm animals. The reason I brought it up is, she had a fear of going through DOORS that she had to overcome. If you get the chance to see her movie or looking up her story on-line, it is definitely worth the time. 🙂

    • Thank you! 🙂 I still can’t believe that door was open with the light and shadows hitting it in such a dramatic way – it was so beautiful in person and I can only hope the picture does it some justice.

You did a lot with the few words there. I had an image of souls waiting in heaven. Then I saw the lovely picture and how it fitted. Great job!

    • Uh-oh, you’re onto me! (I like to have little themes each week, where at leas two posts tie together!)

I have a ridiculous collection of doorway photos from all over the world. I just love them and I can’t help but snap pictures of beautiful and interesting doors! 🙂

    • One of these days, I’ll have to do a post on some of the door photos I’ve taken over the years. They’re so pretty! 🙂

I’ve tucked this one safely away for a possible chapbook one day! 🙂
