This is one of my favorite quotes because it is so true. Joy isn’t something that comes to us through material things or moments of fate, but rather a choice we make inside ourselves.

What wise piece of advice has stuck with you the most?

c.b.w. 2012

Treat others how you want to be treated. Even when they seem like they don’t deserve your kindness, you will never regret giving it. That has always been true.
Brilliant wisdom that always rings true.
Amen siSTAR!
my favourite – candy is dandyl liquor is quicker – Ogden Nash
it is my favourite because I can remember it not because I necessarily believe that his advice is wise – though I probably did 35 years ago
Lol!
I think I’ll stick to the candy – it makes me hyper without the hangover.
Always try to give others the benefit of the doubt.
Absolutely. I tend to believe there is good in everyone, even if they make mistakes.
Awesome as always.
Thanks!
Love the owl. Mine would be to do a random act of kindness every day.
Random acts of kinds bring random moments of joy.
I LOVE THE OWL!!!!!
Isn’t he cute!
Always prroofred your work.
Hahaha!
Once again – love it! I love your quote, too. One of my favorites has always been – “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford. I always have to remind myself of that.
I’ve never heard that quote before! I love it! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, YES, I love this wisdom, CB! Joy isn’t something “out there”. It’s innate in who/what we are. Lovely blog!
Thanks!
That’s what I tell people when they I ask why I’m so happy all the time.
Yes! And all the things that really matter, can’t be bought with money anyway…
It’s a very cute owl … in its own way!
He’s got flare!
I have a stamp of this that I often use at Christmas time, but it is applicable all year, too. (Especially since ‘joy’ is literally a part of me – my middle name!)
What a lovely middle name!
I have a stamp with the same quote as well. It’s my favorite stamp for birthday cards.
I don’t know what my original comment was-it didn’t stick here! Anyway, someone told me recently that if we can’t find joy inside ourselves, then we need to create it outside ourselves. Gives me hope on lonely days.
Joy always starts from within. Once that choice is made, everything on the outside instantly becomes brighter.
Your journal page is a lovely reminder that joy is indeed a choice, made easier by gratitude…..
Ooo, love the last part.
Gratitude truly does make you appreciate everything so much more and that in itself brings joy.
When you fall off the horse, get right back on.
