Near Grasmere, England.

Grasmere is a beautiful village in England’s Lake District. The writer inside of me delighted in walking the same pathways as William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. However, my greatest joy came with spending time in a pastoral setting which inspired one of my favorite authors, Beatrix Potter. Grasmere is usually full of tourists, but its easy to escape the hoopla if you take a short trek through the centuries old cemetery or into the green fields full of grazing sheep. Lean against a dry stone wall and listen carefully . . . you just might hear the tiny patter of mist droplets against flowing blades of grass.

What a great picture! I like the words, too. Seems to lead the reader into the picture-the stream and the breeze. Such a serene countryside. Would be cool to take a writer’s retreat here…
Thanks!
The Lake District is one of those places that defies imagination. Just when you think it can’t get any more beautiful, you turn a corner and find yourself amazed once more.
This is one of the loveliest places we have ever walked. Serene.
Serene is a fantastic word for Grasmere. It’s the only place on earth (besides) Wisconsin) where its quiet enough to hear the grass move.
I haven’t been there for decades! Thanks for reviving some memories.
It’s such a beautiful place! How lovely to relive some wonderful memories.
Beautiful! I always love traveling vicariously to other places through your blog posts.
Glad you enjoyed this little excursion!
Lovely memories to have! I still hate the fact that I didn’t bring a camera when I went to England.
Oh my! No camera???
No, I don’t remember if I even owned a camera back then [1983], but surely I could have borrowed one. Too thoughless, I guess…
What a beautiful image! The words flow perfectly with it. I am so envious of how beautifully you put the two together.
Thank you! That’s so kind of you to say.
Your Christmas week posts have filled me with hope… heart of home, and natural beauty. Thanks! Best New Year to you!
So glad to hear that!!
Happy New Year!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
I really like the addition of your words to the photos. This combo is the perfect antidote to stress!
I’m going to keep working at photo-editing. It’s a lot of fun alter pictures with so many different possibilities. I’m still figuring out text and hopefully that will start to look even better over the next year.
That whole area is on my to-go list! Beautiful
It’s well worth the journey!
Lovely image and words!
Thank you so much.
Can’t you just breathe in the inspiration?
Yes! That is exactly how it feels when you’re standing in that spot.
That gorgeous green is so beautiful compared to the bland white I see outside at this time of year. It warms me and makes me wish I could travel to those English meadows.
I have this photograph on my desktop. When I get tired of looking at brown desert landscape, I just have to look at English green.
