It’s been a while since I stopped to recognize some blogs I enjoy on a daily basis. Β In the months since I last paid it forward, I’ve been lucky enough to find some fantastic bloggers who brighten my day with poetry, beautiful photographs, and thoughtful posts about the writing process.
Wendy L Young – I’ve mentioned this blog before, but never beyond a quick link. Β Wendy is a talented writer with a great sense of humor. Β Its been fascinating to follow her as she published her first novel, traveled through the maze of e-book publishing, and now with her most recent endeavor of a new novel.
Write Up My Life – This blog is one of my absolute favorites. Β Julie Hedlund is a talented writer who loves to inspire other writers. Β She offers fantastic links, observations, and tools of the trade that I find extremely helpful. Β On top of that, she writes beautiful poetry and a weekly Sunday Gratitude List that always lifts my spirits.
1 Mere Mortal – This blog has some incredibly beautiful poetry. Β New posts are frequent and consistently amazing.
Write Am I – This blogger is a writer to the core. Β I look forward to her posts about the struggles and triumphs of an emerging writer. Β She has a great sense of humor and determined soul I find very inspiring. Β Furthermore, she recently got her first publishing credit with a brilliant short story. Β Visit her site for the link!
Simple Relevance – This is a recent discovery and one I wish I found a long time ago. Β Cindy Archer posts spectacular photographs, shares wonderful craft projects, and writes lovely posts about what truly matters in life. Β Heartfelt and honest, her blog is a beautiful place to go each day.

This is a great idea. I think I might do this as well. We as writers should support each other more and this is a simple a great way to do that. Bravo!

Writers should always be celebrated, especially among one another. We are all artists and it does a creative soul good to know someone out there appreciates what we do. π
Thanks for stopping in and I hope you give these links a click! (I’m heading over to your blog right now as the title has me intrigued!)

I don’t believe I spend enough time reading other people’s blogs to do this regularly, but it is a good thought.

I honestly don’t think my blog would still be going if it wasn’t for the inspiration I got from other bloggers. Writer seem to feed off one another and I love the community! π

I kinda do and kinda don’t. I think we form micro-communities of the like-minded within the ‘blogosphere’, and that there is a heck of a lot out there which is mediocre at best. I only have to look at ‘Freshly Pressed’ on wordpress to get a sense of this. Those lead blogs are often as not only a nose ahead of mediocre, only raised by some good photography. They attract comments mainly from people who agree with them (I put a detailed counter-view in a comment to one blog page and was held under moderation for a week, then approved but studiously ignored). I am aware that this says more about the tastes and culture of the WordPress staffers who pick the blogs than it does about blogging itself, but sometimes I wonder where the outstanding bloggers really are. I subscribe to a handful of blogs which I think are pretty damn good, of course, but maybe – I am forced to admit this as someone who gets her writing ‘out there’ by blogging – I am a small drop diluted in a large ocean, and the outstanding people are on dry land, in the print-o-sphere maybe, being paid to write. What do you (as one of the better bloggers) think?

The blogosphere is quite huge, but I also think its as big as you make it. I tend to connect and subsrcibe to blogs that both inspire and challenge me to see things from a different perspective. I’m always looking to improve my writing or experiment with something different. I’ve heard it over and over again that reading (whether classic lit or today’s most recent blog) makes for a better writer.
The nice thing is we get to choose how big the community gets around us. There are literally millions of blogs out there all vying for attention. I can’t possibly read all of them, but I can pick a few that jump out from the rest. If anything, that’s how people find my blog and I’m thankful for that. Readers comes from all over the place and I’m surprised and grateful that day after day they keep clicking on my blog. At the same time, I’m anxious to be a reader myself. Like any partnership, blogging is a 50/50 deal. Either way, everyone has something to gain.
For the record, I enjoy your comments immensely as they always get me thinking. π
