Sworn secrets,
linger aloft
Lit by flames,
fueled by lies
Sacred smoke,
wisps and spins
Fevered hands,
claw the void

Thanks. I’m not sure where they came from, but one day I was sitting in the bookstore and they came out. 🙂

Very powerful and beautiful words, much more so for those of us who have a passion for ancient Egypt, and know the fate that often befell the artists who worked within the tombs. The mystery of the image reminds me of works found within the ruins of, or attributed to, the city of Akhetaten / Tel el-Amarna. Thanks!

Your pirate eye is sharp as ever! The wall relief is indeed from the Amarna Period. The Petrie Museum has the largest collection of Amarna artifacts outside of Egypt.

How close to us these ancient people seem, seeing this powerful image of someone’s hands. Your powerful words echo the image.

I think that’s why I love history so much. It’s not so much the past that fascinates me, but the people who populated it. We are all connected. 🙂

Music especially makes me feel connected to people from the past, knowing I am playing the thoughts and feeling someone wrote 500 years ago. That gives me a very big “Wow!”.

It’s funny to see how much power words have when they’re put into their predestination. I love poetry because it flashes before my eyes like a movie, but it isn’t long. And most importantly, poems need to have a soul – just like your poems have. Thanks for sharing!! I bet I’ll be back later to experience it again. 😉

Thanks so much for such a nice comment. 🙂
Poetry is where I feel the most comfortable baring my soul. But only in little snippet, of course.

I love how your words have captured the essence of the image. It almost looks as though the hands have 5 fingers and a thumb. Maybe aliens were locked away in the tombs so many millennia ago. 😉

I never noticed the 6 finger man! Lol! 🙂 Maybe the guy who carved it lost count.
