Life uncertain,
ponder silence
Still waters speak,
reflect the past
Enduring stone,
settles the soul
Endless expanse,
nurtures the path
Follow the curve,
embrace the edge

Fantastic. The black and white really sets the tone.

The light at the time didn’t really give me a choice, but to set the camera to black and white. Luckily, it worked beautifully!

Beautiful poem to match the incredible Arizona landscape. I love the rock formations out that way. : )

It’s amazing how the rocks change over even the shortest distances. The rock formations around the Phoenix area are starkly different from those that are barely 20 miles away. It’s a beautiful thing to see! π

That’s a beautiful photo, but I particularly like how you ended this piece of poem with ’embrace the edge’ … something makes me feel like it’s not going to be easy, but you’ll have to do it, to get there.

Thanks! I found something very moving about the single stone sitting on top of that rock formation. I’m glad you did, too. π

IT’s a very evocative shot. And I particularly like your words “Enduring stone settles the soul…”, probably because that’s excactly what stone does for me.

Stones feel that way to me as well. I feel so centered when I touch them – perhaps its their steady and solid nature. π

Agreed! And stones know “deep time” which helps me take what happens in our brief span of life on the planet much less seriously.

We are here but a short time and stones remind me not to take it for granted!

Stones – Native Americans call them ‘The Ancestors’. They have a steadfastness about them and, yet, they do change over time through erosion from the elements.
Your words imply a bit of mystery around the corner and a ‘living on the edge’ philosophy that I like. π
