The April Poem A Day Challenge rolls on …
April 15, 2014
Prompt: Two for Tuesday – Write a love and/or anti-love poem.
An easy task,
to fall in love
Sometimes a look
is all it takes
Pretty blue eyes,
a crooked smile
Heart unguarded,
enchanted leap
The hard part comes
with loss, heartbreak
Grief always burns,
the cracks won’t heal
By scornful words,
or time’s cruel joke
Heart defeated,
cornered in black
Inspiration: I can’t pinpoint a specific source of inspiration, but I suspect this comes from watching too many movies and reading too many romance novels, (yes, I admit it).

April 16, 2014
Prompt: Write an elegy poem.
Rising through the ground,
tiny miracle of life
Leafy wings take flight
The wind blew too fierce
feathers singed and fell apart
A small life, no more
Inspiration: Earlier in the day I discovered one my seedlings had died. While it was just a tiny life, I was sad all the same.

It is all too easy to fall in love – I agree, it’s getting out of the mess afterwards that’s the hardest lesson we will ever learn! 😉

So, true. Yet, it’s a lesson we all must learn the hard way.
