30 Haikus in 30 Days

The 2014 November PAD Chapbook Challenge has officially started and it’s already proving to be very inspirational. To shake things up a bit, I decided to set a personal goal to write 30 haikus in 30 days.

While the haiku form is simple, it can be challenging to work within the limits of 3 lines and 17 syllables. In addition, not all the daily prompts can easily be translated to fit the traditional subject matter of haikus: nature.

Prompt: Take the phrase “Keep This (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.

Keep This Sacred

Midnight grass, be still
Moon kissed clouds, rolling thunder
Marvel at it all
