Breath

Standard

The bitter edge

of a passing storm

Hides the horizon

with uncertain fog

Water churns in

life’s deep crevice

pounding rough stones

washing the sand

Cold from the storm

gray on the inside

Yet, breath remains

in blades of grass

and the steadfast pine
