I started 2018 with a little To-Do List to keep me on task, (sometimes I wander!). After three months, I thought it might be a good a idea to reflect and see how its going. I don’t look at this list very often, but the seeds are planted in my mind and I’m finding that’s working really well for me!
- Read. A lot.
I joined the Goodreads Reading Challenge with a goal of reading 40 books in 2018.
Back in January, I was 3 books ahead of my goal. Today, I am 7 books ahead of my goal with a total 15 read books for the year, (so far!).

2. Write and Submit
I have lofty goals in this department, which include readying a poetry chapbook, writing a sequel to my YA novel, and submitting to literary agents.
On the up side, my poetry chapbook is sequenced and edited. The trick now is figuring out how to format poetry. I’m looking to use KDP publishing via amazon, but formatting is proving to be very difficult. If anyone has any advice, I’m all ears!
On the frustrating side, I’m still fielding rejections for my novel. It’s been a brutal few months and it’s left me low in the motivation department when it comes to writing the sequel.

3. Travel
My travel list included Portland, Oregon, Italy, and wherever else happens to ping on the radar.
Portland ended up not happening. My cell phone died and I had to make a budgetary decision: phone or Portland. I picked the phone.
Italy is still a go! My husband and I continue to make plans for our adventure in Milan. I’m so excited!

4. Look for open doors and step through them.
The big idea with this list item was to simply keep my eyes open for opportunities and to actually pursue them.
Done and done. An opportunity for a program coordinator came up at my school. Rather than question my abilities, I applied for it. I actually got the job! This means a big change in my role on campus in that I won’t be in the classroom as much, but rather will have more of an administrative role. I’m excited for the challenge and can’t wait to get started.

5. Give
The idea of bringing being a craftivist at home (and not just at work), drives this item on the list forward. I’ve crocheted about 20 hats over the last three months. I boxed them up last week to send them to Hats for the Homeless, a New Jersey based charity.
