This place is made of fairy tales. Somewhere in the brush or in the billowing clouds overhead there is a happy ending looking to be found. But really, the happy endings are all around us in everyday little things. It’s not really about the grand finale or the hero’s shining armor. It’s about the kiss you get when your husband comes home or the barista getting your coffee order absolutely perfect. The real happy ending is recognizing that fact and learning to love every day for what it is and looking forward to the next.

Mischief

eyes long gone
from the watch tower
mischief abounds

Covered in moss
gilded with lore
Echoes of kings,
speak among thieves
Wrapped up in stone
myths go to thrive

The truth, it hides
covered in grime
Soul gutted out
swallowed by lies
Locked in the crypt,
reaching for keys

Between what’s real
and make believe
A narrow pass,
a jagged arch
Always open,
but hard to see
Through these cold stones,
to soft green leaves

This is for my Grandma. She was with me when I took this picture and I’ll never forget her telling me to be careful when climbing up the hill (this was not an easy vantage point to achieve!).  We love you Grandma and I hope you feel better soon!
