In northern Wisconsin there’s always something flying around up above and through the trees. Robins, blue jays, hummingbirds, and hawks all constantly glide overhead and rustle the leaves. For me, though, it was always about the butterflies. I loved how their wings glowed in the sun and how gently they fluttered through the air. They invite you to take a deep breath and just be present. Take time to touch a soft flower petal or taste a just picked blueberry.

Ever since I was a little girl, I believed butterflies were dream carriers. I don’t know where the idea came from or why I decided delicate wings could carry such a load, but whenever I saw one I wondered what dream it carried and to whom it belonged. Perhaps the bright colors rich in optimism inspired my imagination or maybe the wings themselves, so light and airy gave me hope that my own dreams could come true.
