Is that modern section connected to the old steeple? It’s sad to see things like that. Was there more to the original?

It is, but that’s the thing about London. They seamlessly combine old and new structures throughout the city. Older structures are maintained to preserve the history of the city, but modern structures are also created. In this case, the church was almost completely destroyed by the blitz in WWII. All that remains is the steeple and a small section of the knave – the newer structure helps to maintain the integrity of the original.
