It’s Baaaack! Poem-A-Day Challenge

Standard

Apparently, my muse is a glutton for punishment because she’s decided I’m going to participate in the Writer’s Digest: Poetic Asides April Poem-A-Day Challenge. I had fun back in November, but it was certainly a struggle to keep up with writing a poem every single day with the added difficulty of sticking to a prompt. The entire experience was very rewarding and inspiring, which is probably why my muse is so motivated to jump in, again!

In November, the goal was to write, edit, and compile a chapbook of poems written during the challenge. This time around, the stakes are much different and very exciting. Instead of a competition at the end of the challenge, each day is a competition of sorts. Various guest judges will pour over the daily comment entries and select the best poems for each day. The chosen poem then stand a chance to be selected for an anthology that will be published by Words Dance Publishing.

That’s pretty darn exciting! I am so in! Are you?

Once again, I’ll be posting my poems every few days. Hope you’re in the mood for some poetry!

  1. I have to admit – I never get excited about competitions, of any kind! I never have, and I’m not sure why – I guess I’m just not much of a competitive person. But you certainly sound like it fires your creativity up! I wish you all the best with your poem a day, and I hope something interesting comes out of it for you! 🙂

    • It’s not so much the competition I enjoy, but rather the inspiration. The prompts always dare me to go to a place I’ve never gone. Plus, it’s really fun to see the work of other writers. There are some incredibly talented poets out there! 🙂

This is always a great way to get your poetic forces on the field. I like doing it even though I usually don’t post them but perhaps I will if the Muse makes me.
