Reconstructing the Lennon Wall

I know teachers aren’t supposed to play favorites, but the student who created this piece wiggled her way into my heart. She was often misunderstood, but I loved her energy and sense of humor. She’s heading out into the real world this year I hope that feisty nature of hers will serve her well.
This is one of the more interesting portrayals of John Lennon the wall has ever seen. I love the imagination that went into this piece and how cool is that paisley!
Sometimes the most simple images are the most powerful. This student choose bold colors and created something that speaks volumes.

Love the face of Lennon-a real likeness! Would be interesting to follow up with these students a few years later and see how they’ve change.

Many times I run into them and I don’t recognize them! They grow up so quickly and change so much over just a couple of years. It’s amazing and exciting at the same time. 🙂

I love it best when a kid walks in and says they aren’t creative – I always prove them wrong by the end of the year. 🙂

This may sound silly, but I’m glad that you’re a teacher. I’m glad for every student that didn’t realize the benefit of who she/he had as a teacher, knowing the epiphany they will have later, and the joy and gratefulness they will feel later in life. I’m glad for those few, though yet children, that see and understand the great wealth they have received being one of your students. I am glad for the joy you receive, and the affirmation, when your students go forth and make the world theirs. Thank you, from an eternal student of life. You can be my teacher anytime.

Awww, this made me tear up a bit. Thank you for such a kind comment – this is exactly what a teacher needs to hear as she heads back to work in a couple of weeks.

Great art, great inspiration…and Winston’s quote “If you’r going through hell, keep going” sums it up. I agree with the other commenters that your students are blessed to have you!!
